Dean's Message

The Graduate School of Policy Studies was established in 1986 and is South Korea’s first graduate school specialized in policy studies. Since then, the school has produced over 3,000 experts in policy studies annually who now play critical roles in politics, public administration, business, law, mass media, and other fields.

Korea University’s Graduate School of Policy Studies is considered the main incubator of policy experts in South Korea. Its programs include a Master’s Program, a Research Program, and an Advanced Policy Program. The Master’s Program offers various majors; including International Relations; Asian Pacific Studies; Urban & Rural Administration; Economic Policy Studies; Statistical Data Science; Public Audit & Inspection Administration; Public Finance & Tax Policy; Human Settlement Economics; and Social Security Administration. Meanwhile, the Advanced Policy Program serves as a think tank to nurture world-class policy experts and to develop new policies.

Now is the time for us to better respond to the transformation going on in South Korea and the world and to prepare for a new leap forward. And the first step to doing so is to have a clear understanding of the transformation, actively explore alternatives to work through the current challenges, and build effective and strong human networks for implementing alternatives. Korea University’s College of Political Science and Economics has been playing a pivotal role in the development of social science in South Korea and its rich intellectual tradition has been passed onto the Graduate School of Policy Studies’ Advanced Policy Program. Under this program, students have opportunities to have no-holds-barred discussions with prominent leaders from a wide range of fields about the great issues of our time.

The faculty members of the Graduate School of Policy Studies are renowned scholars in politics, economics, and public administration and leading experts in their respective fields in society. They provide students with academic knowledge as well as valuable life lessons through a variety of programs to balance intellectual and emotional growth.

As such, the school is committed to cultivating academic excellence and facilitating networking among students. For these efforts to come to fruition, the leaders of today’s society, like you, should actively participate in its programs. I would sincerely like to invite you to join our community of intellectuals.

Thank you.
